Hello Everyone,
First I want to thank you all for volunteering. It is a huge help to our students and our school.
Secondly, I want to touch base with everyone regarding the volunteering process. MPS has a policy that volunteers go through a small training session with Dr. Brugger. Part of completing the training session is to also complete a background check. This is standard for any job or volunteer position that involves working with children. There used to be a paper filled out during the training session with Dr. Brugger which gave MPS permission and the information needed to run this background check.
MPS has changed the way they do these background checks this year. Now volunteers apply for the volunteer position online and this initiates the background check. Due to this change, if you have not previously completed the training session with Dr. Brugger AND completed the background check form (this was not included in the training session at the beginning of this school year) you need to do this application online. The application is on the MPS webpage and I have included a link below. This link will lead you directly to the listing of the volunteer position at MGIS. Please click on the button on the top of the page that says "Apply Now". Once you have completed this application the background check will be run.

I know this is a long process. This background check is necessary in order for you to be allowed to work with the children unsupervised by staff (such as monitoring the hall) or to move throughout the school without an escort. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this new policy. We really appreciate your help at the school.
