From the PTA President… Erika Conner
Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff Members,
Hard to believe that December is already here. It seems like only yesterday that we were starting a new school year and now we’re preparing for St. Nikolaus, Weihnachtsmarkt, Christmas and snow. Speaking of snow, please make sure your children come to school dressed for a Wisconsin winter, with jackets, snow pants, boots, hats, and waterproof mittens. The children go outside for recess.
Once again the Laternennacht sing a long was held outside on the playground. The new sound system we received from the German Immersion Foundation worked great. It is always amazing to see the hundreds of lanterns as they parade through the park. The weather also cooperated and many enjoyed cookies, apples and conversions after.
Our Mr. Z’s fundraiser Pick-up delivery was November 7. Thank you Stephanie Rasmussen and all the volunteers that helped.
You won’t want to miss our annual Weihnachtsmarkt (the Secret Santa Craft Bazaar) on Dec. 8 from
10a.m. to 3p.m. Chocolate Advent calendars are also for sale in the office for $3.
There will be no December PTA meeting. We will have our next PTA meeting in January on Tuesday, January 15 at 6:30 p.m. Attending the meeting is a great way to find out what is going on at MGIS. You will have a chance to join the PTA, buy Scrip, and win a Scrip gift card. However, there will NOT be childcare available for this meeting.
Winter break is Dec. 24 - Jan. 2.
Fall soccer has ended and we are working on fielding winter volleyball teams for the 5th graders. The MAP, WKCE, and the first part of PALS testing is behind us. The 4th graders completed their amazing castle projects and are on display outside of their classrooms. The 5th graders were also busy with social
studies and book report projects. Many are also on display in the hallway. Classrooms were busy creating their very own Lanterns.
Pro Boards is our new Official PTA Forum. It is an easy way for the MGIS community to communicate.
Check out the article inside for more details.
Leadership roles in the PTA will be available for next year--this is a great time to “shadow” a position you might like to fill. We can always use volunteers. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at
