From the PTA President… Erika Conner
Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff Members,
Thank you to everyone that attended Rollschuhabend. Once again we had great attendance and
fun was had by all.
As we kick off February, Frau Mattke is starting the “Reed to Feed” program by Heifer Project
International (HPI) which continues the entire month. We also look forward to Kinderkino on the
15 and the 22. We are tentatively planning to show “How to Train your Dragon” (Drachenzähmen leicht gemacht). Wear your favorite pajamas, bring your pillow and blanket and enjoy the show. Popcorn
and snacks are also available for purchase.
There will be no school on February 18 (Banking Day) and February 25 (Mid-Semester Break).
Our next PTA meeting is Tuesday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. Leadership roles in the PTA will be available for next year. We will be taking nominations for the Executive positions (President, 4 Vice Presidents & Treasurer). We will present the nominations at our March meeting. If anyone is interested in any of these roles, please let us know - we will be happy to answer any questions you might have. You will have a chance to join the PTA, buy Scrip, and win a Scrip gift card. Childcare will NOT be available.
Our spring fundraiser is looking for a co-chair who would be interested in taking over for next year.
The strudel, coffee and tea sale will also need volunteers on March 5, 6 & 7 processing orders, sorting and passing out orders on March 25 & 26. Please contact me for more information - connerika@gmail.com
The German Immersion Foundation Auction is coming up on April 13. The auction committee is hard at work requesting donations from local businesses for you to bid on at the auction. If you would like to donate an item or know of a company or organization who might be willing to make a donation, please contact Jessica Sachs at djaesachs@yahoo.com. Classrooms are not being asked to put together
baskets this year, however rooms may choose to make a class donation that the children work on together.
A date has been reserved for Family Science Night, put on by Mad Science on April 24th. Spaces are limited for this event. We will offer openings to 5th grade families first, then 4th, etc. until all spaces are filled.
In an effort to streamline our communication efforts we will begin using email blasts to communicate,
on a more regular basis, with our MGIS family.
Pro Boards is our new Official PTA Forum. It is an easy way for the MGIS community to communicate. Check out the article inside for more details.
