Hello MGIS Families,
Effective July 1, 2013 I have officially stepped into my role as the Milwaukee German Immersion School PTA President. I am thankful for being elected to this position and I look forward to working with Dr Brugger, the staff, the parents, and also the students of MGIS to make this an outstanding year!
In an effort to improve communication within the PTA we have done some restructuring. We have divided the Vice-President role into four positions. Each position is responsible for overseeing a different aspect within the PTA. The intentions are to allow quicker communication and decision making when needs arise. This should also relieve some of the workload experienced in the past to hopefully allow for more efficient actions as well as the potential for more constructive thought processes.
With the recent budget concerns MGIS has had to work with ever decreasing resources. To date Dr Brugger, the staff, and everyone involved with MGIS has been exemplary in stepping up to help out as needed. My sincerest hopes are that all those who have stepped up in the past through various means continue to do so. Additionally, I am going to make every effort to try to expand our resources and volunteers to not only lighten the workload for the staff and those who regularly help out, but to also increase the potential for actual continuous improvement.
I would like to officially ask everyone to consider membership within the MGIS PTA. If you have been a member previously, I would love to have you continue as a member. If you have not been a member, I would love to have you join us. Membership has numerous advantages which include often getting information prior to anyone else knowing as Dr. Brugger is part of the PTA's Executive Board and he attends every meeting giving a direct audience with him. There are other advantages as well including discounts on school "Spirit" items and being part of a larger network to make your voice more vocal where it is needed.
The school supplies lists for each grade are currently posted on the MGIS School's website. Please do not forget to follow-up on that and I am looking forward to an outstanding year with you!
Sincerely,
Richard A. Weeks
